Tap Handle

This is a picture of the tap handle I used. It's made by General and cost's about $8.00. I removed and reused the rod that goes through the top and here is a good hint for removing it. The rod is held captive by a spring loaded plunger. If you look closely at the rod you will see that the inside edges of the two grooves are slightly beveled and the outside edges are straight. The plunger will slide up and down the beveled edge but stops when it hits the straight edge. You have to slightly bevel one outside edge to be able to push the rod all the way through. I machined a plug for the top of the extension and drilled two holes the same dimensions as those in the tap handle and even reused the spring and plunger. I didn't bother to square up the outside edge I beveled. I thought some day I may want to remove it and replace it with a longer one.
